Fatal Sunshine Coast, Queensland car crash death of Norma Diana Dutton and Clive William Millers – Obituary

Elderly siblings Norma Diana Dutton, aged 85, and Clive William Millers, 83, tragically lost their lives in a deliberate car crash on the Sunshine Coast hinterland earlier this week. Both residents of the Gympie region, the brother and sister were passengers when the vehicle collided forcefully with a tree at the intersection of Callemonda Road and Mary Valley Road in Brooloo on Monday afternoon.

Authorities have charged Stuart Daryl Gray, 61, the driver and caretaker of the siblings, with two counts of manslaughter. Following the crash, Gray sustained leg injuries and was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he remains under police supervision. His case is scheduled for a mention hearing at the Gympie Magistrates Court later this week.

Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip confirmed that investigators now believe the crash was intentional rather than accidental, though the motive remains unclear and is still under investigation. Gray, who was employed professionally as a carer and is also listed as a company director, is being questioned as part of ongoing inquiries. Police are appealing to the public for any information or dash cam footage related to the incident.

Neighbors and community members have expressed their sorrow and shared memories of Ms. Dutton, describing her as a caring, active, and beloved member of the community. Mr. Millers, who had spent much of his working life on family pineapple farms after a decade at a local sawmill, was known for his close bond with his sister. Their passing has deeply affected family, friends, and neighbors alike.
