Fatal San Antonio highway crash death of Roberto Zavala – Obituary

Roberto Zavala, 81, has died in a hospital in San Antonio following injuries sustained in a head-on collision on Highway 359. The crash occurred on Saturday, May 24, involving a Ford Mustang driven by 19-year-old Jose Alfredo Rodriguez-Covarrubias and a Chevy pickup truck driven by 61-year-old Gustavo Garcia, with Zavala riding as a front passenger in the truck.

According to Laredo Police, the Mustang crossed the median and struck the pickup truck directly, causing the Mustang to ignite. While Garcia has been released from Doctors Hospital, Zavala and Covarrubias were both transported to a San Antonio hospital. Zavala later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into the accident remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather details surrounding the tragic event.
