Fatal Radnor motorcycle crash death of Shakir Smith – Obituary
Shakir Smith, a 34-year-old man from Upper Darby, lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 476, commonly known as the Blue Route, in Radnor on Thursday afternoon.
The Delaware County Medical Examiner confirmed that Smith died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, which happened around 4:45 p.m. near mile marker 12.2 in Villanova. According to Pennsylvania State Police, Smith was riding northbound during rainy conditions and was seen weaving through traffic before losing control.
Smith fell onto the roadway and slid across several lanes, ending up in the path of a white box truck traveling in the left lane. He was then struck by the truck.
Initial reports indicate that the driver of the box truck may not have realized the collision occurred or failed to stop. Investigators have not yet released further details on that aspect of the case.
