A tragic motorcycle accident in the St Paul’s Bay bypass has claimed the life of 35-year-old Shaun Coppola, a resident of Qormi. Authorities confirmed his identity following the collision on Monday.

The incident occurred when Coppola reportedly lost control of his Suzuki motorcycle and slammed into the median barriers dividing the northbound and southbound lanes. The force of the crash was so intense that his body was thrown a considerable distance, and he was pronounced dead at the scene despite the immediate arrival of emergency medical personnel.

Following the fatal collision, both directions of the bypass were temporarily closed as officials from Transport Malta advised motorists to seek alternate routes.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia has initiated a formal inquiry into the crash, while police continue their investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal loss of control.
