Thomas G. Hechimovich dies in fatal Fond du Lac County car crash

Fatal Fond du Lac County car crash death of Thomas G. Hechimovich – Obituary

Thomas G. Hechimovich, a 79-year-old resident of Fond du Lac, was killed in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Fond du Lac County. Authorities say the crash occurred on County Highway B when Hechimovich, driving an SUV eastbound, tried to turn left onto County Highway K northbound but did not yield to a westbound dump truck.

The dump truck, operated by 67-year-old Larry M. Potratz, also from Fond du Lac, collided with Hechimovich’s vehicle. The impact then caused the dump truck to hit a cement truck driven by 61-year-old Kirk B. Thew of Van Dyne.

Hechimovich was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries. Potratz sustained minor injuries and was treated by emergency responders. Thew was unharmed in the incident.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team is continuing its investigation into the cause of the collision.
