Fatal Bakersfield train death of William Loyal Hattabaugh Jr. – Obituary

William Loyal Hattabaugh Jr., a 59-year-old resident of Bakersfield, California, was tragically killed after being struck by a train on the morning of May 17, 2025. The incident occurred near the intersection of Edison Highway and Morning Drive.

 

Officials from the Kern County Coroner’s Office confirmed Hattabaugh Jr.’s identity and stated that he died at the scene. Emergency crews from the Kern County Fire Department responded to the area shortly after the accident was reported around 7:32 a.m.

 

According to authorities, the fatal collision took place close to Weedpatch Highway and Edison Highway. Upon arrival, firefighters found Hattabaugh Jr. already deceased near the train tracks.

 

The incident remains under investigation as officials work to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
