Amber Hill dies in fatal Polk County car crash

Fatal Polk County car crash death of Amber Hill – Obituary

Amber Hill, a resident of Fort Meade, lost her life in a head-on collision on the evening of May 27 near Mulberry, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities stated that around 8:16 p.m., Hill was driving a black GMC Terrain eastbound on County Road 640, while a semi-truck was traveling westbound. Prior to the accident, Hill was reportedly seen operating her vehicle recklessly—passing multiple cars and ignoring a flashing red light.

While trying to overtake another vehicle in a no-passing zone, Hill entered the oncoming lane, leading to a direct crash with the semi-truck. After the collision, her vehicle came to rest in a shallow ditch on the south side of the road, while the semi ended up on the north shoulder.

Both drivers had seatbelts on at the time. Hill, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver, a 48-year-old man from Tampa, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
