Fatal Putnam County house fire death of Angel Enrique Diaz Perez – Obituary

Angel Enrique Diaz Perez, a 4-year-old boy, tragically died after a house fire engulfed a home on North Maryland Avenue in Putnam County on Monday morning. Rescue crews found Angel unresponsive inside the burning residence and rushed him to the hospital, where he later passed away.

Alongside Angel, two adults—Fernando Hernandez Mendez, 31, and Enrique Hernandez Mendez, 33—also lost their lives in the fire. Several others, including 18-month-old Jesus Hernandez, 7-year-old Elizabeth Hernandez Gomez, and 27-year-old Carolina Gomez, were hospitalized with critical injuries.

Elizabeth Hernandez Gomez was able to escape the fire and run to a neighbor’s home to call 911, helping summon emergency responders. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the blaze, with sheriff’s deputies working alongside the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The community has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical and funeral expenses for the family affected by this tragic event.
