Seventeen-year-old Ava Ford lost her life in a tragic accident Thursday morning in Jefferson County, Iowa.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Ford was driving southbound on Packwood Road at approximately 7:35 a.m. when her vehicle veered across the center line for reasons that remain unclear. Her Toyota then collided head-on with another vehicle.

Ford died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to the University of Iowa hospitals with injuries, though their current condition has not been disclosed.
