Carrie Hall dies in fatal Bartow County shooting

Fatal Bartow County shooting death of Carrie Hall – Obituary

Carrie Hall, a 50-year-old woman from Cartersville, was shot and killed by law enforcement during a traffic stop in Bartow County on Wednesday night, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Officials reported that deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Cartersville Police Department attempted to stop Hall’s vehicle just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of GA-20/Canton Highway and Conference Center Drive. During the encounter, Hall exited the vehicle holding a firearm and refused to obey multiple commands from officers to drop it. As a result, she was shot by responding personnel.

Earlier in the evening, Hall had allegedly gone to a residence in Bartow County and fired a gun. The homeowner, who knew Hall personally, provided her identity to authorities, prompting officers to search for her.

Once officers located her vehicle, they initiated the stop that ended in the fatal shooting. The GBI did not provide further specifics about Hall’s behavior immediately before shots were fired, nor did they confirm how many officers discharged their weapons or how many rounds struck Hall.

After being shot, Hall was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. No officers were injured in the incident.

The GBI stated they are continuing their independent inquiry into the shooting. Once their investigation is finished, the case will be turned over to the Bartow County District Attorney’s Office for further review.
