Christian Royston dies in fatal Story County wrong-way crash

Fatal Story County crash death of Christian Royston – Obituary

Christian Royston, a 26-year-old resident of Johnston, tragically lost his life in a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver on Highway 30 in Story County. The crash took place late Wednesday night near Sand Hill Trail when a 41-year-old woman from Slater was driving her Jeep Renegade westbound in the eastbound lanes around 11:30 p.m.

Royston, who was driving a Chevrolet Impala, was pronounced dead at the scene following the impact. The woman behind the wheel of the Jeep was seriously injured and was airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment.

The Story County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances that led to this fatal crash. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, 92 people have died on Iowa roads so far this year, which is slightly lower than the same time last year.
