Fatal Charleston County car crash death of Clarence Delaney Jr. – Obituary
Clarence Delaney Jr., a 54-year-old man from Beaufort, lost his life in a crash earlier this week while attempting to escape from law enforcement in Charleston County, South Carolina. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity on Thursday, stating that he succumbed to blunt force trauma following the collision.
According to North Charleston Police, the incident began around 9:45 a.m. on Kirkpatrick Lane near a Dollar General store, where officers tried to pull over a vehicle reported as stolen. Instead of stopping, the driver sped off, heading down Cross County Road toward Ashley Phosphate Road.
A short time later, officers discovered that the vehicle had wrecked near the 7200 block of Cross County Road. Clarence Delaney Jr. had been thrown from the car during the crash and died from his injuries at the scene.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.
