Darrel Lottes dies in fatal York car crash

Fatal York car crash death of Darrel Lottes – Obituary

Darrel Lottes, a 75-year-old resident of York, Nebraska, died following a rollover accident that occurred Tuesday night and ended in a McDonald’s parking lot near Interstate 80.

According to the York Police Department, Darrel and his passenger, 71-year-old Linda Lottes, were both taken to York General Hospital after the incident. Tragically, Darrel passed away from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 8 p.m., where they found a single-vehicle rollover in the McDonald’s lot off the I-80 westbound ramp. A bystander assisted officers in pulling the two occupants from the overturned vehicle.

Initial findings suggest the vehicle exited the westbound I-80 ramp, continued westward across four lanes of Highway 81 traffic, rolled multiple times, and finally came to rest in the restaurant parking lot.

The Nebraska State Patrol is collaborating with York Police to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
