Fatal Southwest Atlanta shooting death of Gabriel Seats – Obituary
Gabriel Seats, a 16-year-old boy, lost his life in a shooting on Wednesday night in Southwest Atlanta, authorities confirmed. Another teenager was injured during the same incident.
The shooting took place near Campbellton Road and Oakland Drive, close to Reverend James Orange Park, around 8:10 p.m. Police responded quickly and found Gabriel Seats unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office.
Another 16-year-old sustained a gunshot injury to the buttocks and was conscious when taken to the hospital for treatment.
Andrew Smith, the commander of Atlanta’s homicide unit, explained that the shooting stemmed from a conflict between two groups of juveniles. Both of the teenagers involved lived in the vicinity where the shooting occurred.
According to Smith, after one teen was shot, he drew a handgun and fired back, fatally wounding Gabriel Seats. The motive behind the altercation remains unclear, and police continue to investigate the case.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation progresses.
