Fatal La Porte County, Indiana shooting death of Harriet Kowalski – Obituary

Harriet Kowalski, 102, was one of three individuals discovered fatally shot inside a residence in La Porte County, Indiana. Deputies with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check on Sunday at a home located in the 5600 west block of County Road 250 North.

Inside the house, authorities found the bodies of Harriet Kowalski, along with Leonard Ciastko, 75, and Linda Ciastko, 73. The La Porte County Coroner confirmed that each victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The welfare check was prompted by a call from Mr. Ciastko’s daughter, who had become concerned after being unable to contact him. While the investigation remains ongoing, law enforcement has indicated there is no current danger to the surrounding community.
