Fatal Socorro car crash death of Marco Jimenez – Obituary

Marco Jimenez, 47, was killed in a head-on collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon, May 27, in Socorro, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the crash happened at approximately 4:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of Horizon Boulevard. Socorro Police responded first, but due to the serious nature of the wreck, the EPCSO Special Traffic Investigations unit took over.

Investigators said Jimenez was driving a Kia southbound on Horizon Boulevard and began switching lanes unpredictably. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the raised center median into the northbound lane, where it struck a Ford pickup truck head-on.

Jimenez was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The pickup driver sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was also taken to the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
