Monroe County, Georgia Juvenile Arrested for Felony Murder After Fatal Police Chase
MONROE COUNTY, GEORGIA — A juvenile driver was arrested in Monroe County in connection with a fatal crash that followed a police chase on Interstate 75.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on a southbound vehicle near exit 188. The driver fled, leading deputies onto Highway 18 West. The pursuit ended when the vehicle lost control and struck a tree.
A passenger, 22-year-old Jason King of Americus, was killed instantly at the scene, authorities said.
The juvenile driver fled on foot but was taken into custody around 7:30 a.m. Friday. According to officials, the driver is now facing charges of felony fleeing, felony murder, and multiple traffic violations. A firearm and drugs were also recovered from the vehicle, and additional charges are pending.
The suspect was transported to a juvenile detention facility. The case remains under investigation.
