Norcross, Georgia — Denis Manuel Velasquez Rivera, Madelin Garcia, and Hector Paz Arrested in Atlanta for Murder of Utah Woman

ATLANTA, GA — Denis Manuel Velasquez Rivera, a 22-year-old resident of Norcross; Madelin Garcia, 18; and Hector Paz, 23, were arrested in Norcross in connection with the murder of Angela Yajahira Cortes Villegas, a 20-year-old woman from Utah, whose body was found near a cemetery in northwest Atlanta last month.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, Rivera, Garcia, and Paz were taken into custody last Friday during a coordinated effort by Atlanta Police’s Fugitive Unit, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and Police Department, and the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force. Authorities say the incident took place near Crestlawn Cemetery at 2000 Marietta Blvd. NW, where Villegas was found shot to death in a wooded area.

Rivera, Garcia, and Paz were transported to the Fulton County Jail and are currently facing multiple charges including murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Additionally, Garcia and Paz are facing felony murder charges.
