Nyland and Emma die in fatal Lacey mobile home fire

Fatal Lacey mobile home fire death of Nyland and Emma – Obituary

Two siblings, Nyland, 17, and Emma, 10, tragically lost their lives in a fire that engulfed their mobile home in the Edgelake Mobile Home Park in Lacey early Tuesday morning. Their mother, Sarah Bullington, escaped the blaze and was treated and released from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The fire was reported just after 2 a.m., with Lacey Fire District 3 quickly responding and containing the flames to prevent further damage to the closely spaced mobile homes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by local authorities.

Neighbors described Emma, also called Emerson, as a small but lively child, while Nyland was remembered as tall and kind. Their mother was seen visibly shaken, having tried to rescue her children by banging on the back door of the home, where Emma’s room was located.

A memorial has since been set up at the site of the fire by community members mourning the loss. The family’s employer has launched a Go Fund Me campaign to support Bullington, who lost her children, pets, and all personal belongings in the tragedy.

Local schools are providing counseling and mental health support to students affected by the news, with staff committed to helping the community cope with this heartbreaking event.
