Fatal Jefferson Parish shooting of Paige Robin – Obituary
Authorities have identified 62-year-old Paige Robin of Lafitte as the woman shot by Jefferson Parish deputies outside a Dollar General store on Wednesday. The incident followed earlier reports that Robin had been seen brandishing a firearm at a parked JPSO unit outside a Walmart on Lapalco Boulevard.
Deputies located Robin’s 2001 Isuzu SUV in the 7300 block of Westbank Expressway near the Dollar General. As officers moved in, they say Robin pointed a gun at them. Despite orders to drop the weapon, she stepped out of the vehicle with the gun still in her hand and allegedly aimed it at law enforcement.
In response, deputies fired several shots, striking Robin multiple times, including a shot to the abdomen. She was quickly taken into custody and transported to a hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.
After the incident, investigators examined the weapon and determined it to be an air pistol that had been altered to closely mimic a real firearm.
The sheriff’s office says Robin will be charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer once she is discharged from medical care.
The encounter was recorded on both body cameras and security footage from the store. Authorities urge anyone with additional video evidence to contact the JPSO Homicide Section at (504) 364-5300.
