Fatal Umingan shooting death of Romeo Corpuz – Obituary

Romeo Corpuz, a 67-year-old tricycle driver from Barangay Lubong, Umingan, Pangasinan, was gunned down by two assailants along a provincial road late Wednesday morning, May 28, 2025.

Corpuz had just picked up a passenger and was en route to drop them off when the attackers struck. According to a family member, Jason Corpuz, the gunmen followed Romeo and then opened fire, hitting him three times in the chest.

Although emergency responders transported him to the hospital, Romeo was declared dead upon arrival. His female passenger, fortunately, was not harmed during the incident.

The suspects immediately fled the scene on a motorcycle after the attack. Investigators have not yet released further details, but initial indications suggest the motive could be tied to a land-related conflict or a personal grudge.

The local police have yet to provide official comments as the investigation continues, and the victim’s family is now seeking justice for his untimely death.
