Fatal west Phoenix shooting death of Ruben Longoria – Obituary

Ruben Longoria, 35, was fatally shot on the morning of May 28 near the intersection of 61st Avenue and Indian School Road in west Phoenix. When Phoenix police arrived at the scene just after 7 a.m., they discovered Longoria with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the location.

Following the incident, authorities identified 42-year-old Johnny Olivarez Sr. as the suspect. He was located at a nearby residence and taken into custody shortly afterward. Olivarez Sr. now faces charges including first-degree murder.

Investigators have not yet disclosed what may have led to the fatal confrontation. The case remains under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
