Fatal San Antonio train accident death of Sylvia Sanchez-Martinez – Obituary

The woman who lost her life after being hit by a train on the West Side of San Antonio has been identified as 62-year-old Sylvia Sanchez-Martinez, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The tragic incident took place just after 11 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of West Martin Street and North Frio Street. Authorities reported that Sanchez-Martinez, who was unhoused, had been walking near the railroad tracks when she was struck.

Police say she had apparently dropped an item and was attempting to retrieve it when the train hit her. Emergency responders transported her to a hospital, but she sadly died en route.
