Tarboro, North Carolina Man Trevis Dickens Arrested in Edgecombe County for Fatal Stabbing

TARBORO, NC — Trevis Dickens, a resident of Tarboro, was arrested in Edgecombe County in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Tuesday evening at a store in Princeville.

According to the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, Dickens was taken into custody on Tuesday at his residence in the Northgate Apartments in Tarboro. Authorities say the incident took place around 5:40 p.m. at Bridgers Store, where Mitchel Young was fatally stabbed.

Using surveillance footage from the store, deputies identified Dickens as the suspect. During the arrest attempt, deputies reported that Dickens made several aggressive moves toward them, prompting the use of less-lethal force to subdue him.

Dickens was transported to the Edgecombe County Detention Center and is currently facing a charge of first-degree murder. He is being held without bond.
