Fatal Charleston shooting death of Tiffany Clerenia Adkins – Obituary

Tiffany Clerenia Adkins, a 42-year-old woman from Marmet, lost her life early Tuesday morning after being unintentionally shot outside a gas station in Charleston, West Virginia.

 

According to Charleston Police, the shooting occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. near the Sheetz gas station on the 5600 block of MacCorkle Avenue Southeast in the Kanawha City area. Investigators say 18-year-old Jacob Fields of Charleston was seated at a gas pump cleaning the barrel of his firearm when it accidentally discharged.

 

The bullet passed through the windshield of his vehicle and struck Adkins in the back of the head as she was walking toward the front entrance of the gas station after exiting her vehicle to refuel. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

 

Police found Fields at the scene and later charged him with wanton endangerment and involuntary manslaughter. The investigation is ongoing.
