Fatal Wood County car crash death of Veronica Yoho and Gregory Nightengale – Obituary

Veronica Yoho of Monaca, Pennsylvania, and Gregory Nightengale of Proctorville, Ohio, lost their lives in a tragic two-vehicle accident that took place Tuesday evening in Wood County, West Virginia. The crash occurred just before 7:30 p.m. along the eastbound side of U.S. Route 50 near the 5th Street exit.

 

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office reported that Yoho’s vehicle lost control on a slick section of the westbound lanes, spun out, and crossed into the path of oncoming traffic in the eastbound direction. Her car then collided with a vehicle driven by Jimmy Godfrey.

 

Nightengale died at the scene, while Yoho was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Godfrey and two of his passengers sustained injuries and were also hospitalized.

 

A Wood County deputy who was driving behind one of the vehicles involved witnessed the crash firsthand. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
