Fatal Warren car crash death of Wendy Drew – Obituary
Wendy Drew, a 71-year-old woman from Hazel Park, lost her life after a high-speed police chase ended in a devastating collision in Warren, Michigan.
Authorities say the crash occurred Saturday night after Warren police attempted to stop a black Chrysler 300 reportedly being driven recklessly near Van Dyke and Miller. The driver, later identified as 33-year-old Anthony Grier of Detroit, allegedly refused to stop, sparking a pursuit that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour and lasted approximately five minutes.
During the chase, Grier’s vehicle collided with another car, fatally injuring Drew, who was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The people in the other vehicle involved were not seriously hurt.
Grier has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree fleeing and eluding, and resisting and obstructing police. He has been arraigned and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
