Zantrez Cummings dies in fatal Mozley Park shooting

Fatal Mozley Park shooting death of Zantrez Cummings – Obituary

ATLANTA — A late-night shooting at Mozley Park on Sunday resulted in the death of 27-year-old Zantrez Cummings, who was fatally shot after approaching a parked vehicle, according to Atlanta police and the Fulton County Medical Examiner.

The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. in the park located off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in northwest Atlanta. Authorities say Cummings walked up to a car when someone inside opened fire, striking him at least once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, investigators have not established a motive for the shooting. The person inside the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Mozley Park is equipped with several surveillance cameras, and detectives are currently reviewing the footage for potential leads that could help identify the shooter.

Local residents who frequent the park expressed shock and concern over the violence. “It’s just horrible,” said neighbor Christian Kerr. “You hear about these things, but when it happens so close to home, it hits differently. There’s no easy solution.”

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to search for answers and work to bring justice in the killing of Zantrez Cummings.
