Crescent City, California Man Russell Walters Jr. Wanted in Crescent City for Safeway Parking Lot Shooting

CRESCENT CITY, CALIFORNIA — Russell Walters Jr., a resident of Crescent City, is wanted in connection with an attempted homicide that occurred in the parking lot of a Safeway on Wednesday night, May 28, 2025.

According to the Crescent City Police Department (CCPD), Walters Jr. allegedly opened fire on a group of juveniles following an earlier altercation near a McDonald’s. One juvenile was shot in the abdomen and later underwent surgery. Authorities believe bullying at school may have been a contributing factor to the incident.

Police say Walters Jr. fled the scene in a dark-colored Chevrolet Traverse, driven by his father, Russell Walters Sr. The vehicle was later abandoned, and both suspects were picked up by a second driver, identified as 32-year-old Crescent City resident Joshua Roberts. Roberts has since been arrested and charged as an accessory to the crime.

Russell Walters Jr. and Russell Walters Sr. remain at large. Active arrest warrants have been issued for both individuals.
