Gastonia, North Carolina Parents Jessica Ivey and Samuele Jenkins Arrested in Gastonia for Child Neglect Following Fatal Crash

GASTONIA, NORTH CAROLINA — Jessica Ivey, a 30-year-old resident of Gastonia, and Samuele Jenkins, 31, were arrested in Gastonia in connection with the death of their 7-year-old son, who was fatally struck by an SUV while crossing the street unsupervised.

According to the Gastonia Police Department, Ivey and Jenkins were taken into custody following an investigation into the incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening. Authorities say the child was not accompanied by an adult and was not using a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Ivey and Jenkins were transported to the Gaston County Jail and are currently facing charges including felony involuntary manslaughter, felony child neglect, and misdemeanor child neglect.
