James Baker, 20, was killed on Wednesday following a shooting that took place on St. Paul’s West Side. Authorities confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound to the torso after being transported to Regions Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident happened at an apartment on the 600 block of Stryker Avenue, which belonged to Baker’s cousin, according to Sgt. Toy Vixayvong. Police believe Baker was acquainted with the shooter, but further details about their connection remain unclear.
No suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, and the individual responsible for the shooting is still at large. This marks the fourth homicide in St. Paul this year and the first one involving a firearm.
