Fatal Nashville, Tenn. stabbing death of James Cane Jr. – Obituary
James Cane Jr., 44, lost his life following a stabbing that took place just after midnight on Monday in the parking lot of a church located at 719 Gallatin Pike South in Nashville. Metro Nashville Police say officers witnessed a confrontation between Cane and 36-year-old Terrance Trice at the scene.
Cane suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. According to police, Trice fled the scene after the altercation.
Authorities reviewed surveillance footage that showed Trice trailing Cane along Gallatin Pike shortly before the stabbing occurred. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the deadly encounter.
Trice has since been arrested and charged with criminal homicide. He remains in custody with a bond set at $160,000. He is also facing an additional charge related to a violation of the sex offender registry.
Officials noted that Trice has a criminal history that includes prior convictions for assault, domestic violence, and possession of illegal drugs.
The investigation is ongoing as police continue to gather more information surrounding the case.
