Fatal Sevier County stabbing death of Jeffrey Allen Todd – Obituary
Jeffrey Allen Todd lost his life after being fatally stabbed during a violent confrontation at a home on Indian Gap Road in Sevier County on May 28.
Authorities say the incident began when deputies responded to a call about a man in mental distress. Before officers arrived, it was reported that the man, Thomas Josha Carter, 36, had killed the family’s dog by drowning, mutilating, and burning it. Later, a physical fight broke out between Carter and his brother Jeffrey, resulting in Jeffrey receiving multiple stab wounds.
Jeffrey’s father took him to a nearby parking lot and called 911, but despite medical efforts at LeConte Medical Center, Jeffrey was pronounced dead. Carter was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and aggravated animal cruelty. He remains in custody awaiting a court hearing.
The investigation was carried out by Sevier County deputies in cooperation with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
