Fatal FM 2090 crash death of Jonathan Burrell – Obituary

Jonathan Burrell, a 28-year-old resident of Onalaska, Texas, was killed Tuesday evening when the Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving crashed into a bridge along FM 2090 near Firetower Road. The tragic accident occurred just before 5 p.m.

According to reports, Burrell was heading east on FM 2090 when he apparently fell asleep while driving. The SUV veered into a guardrail on the right, then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a bridge over Spring Branch. The impact left Burrell partially trapped inside the vehicle.

Three young children, all around the age of five and not wearing seatbelts, were also in the Tahoe. They sustained minor injuries, with one possibly suffering a broken arm. Emergency responders from Caney Creek Fire Department managed to free Burrell from the wreckage, while East Montgomery County Fire personnel tended to the children until medics arrived.

Three ambulances from MCHD responded to the scene. Burrell was transported in critical condition to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands, where he was later pronounced dead. The children were also taken to the same hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation into the crash.
