Jose Coreas, Jr. dies in fatal North Las Vegas crash involving construction vehicle

Fatal North Las Vegas crash death of Jose Coreas, Jr. – Obituary

Jose Coreas, Jr., a 30-year-old man from North Las Vegas, lost his life Wednesday afternoon in a collision with a construction vehicle along Cheyenne Avenue near Slit Canyon Street.

Authorities responded just before 2 p.m. to reports of a serious crash involving an SUV and construction equipment. Upon arrival, officers found Coreas, the driver of the SUV, deceased at the scene.

According to investigators, Coreas was heading west on Cheyenne Avenue when a construction vehicle entered his path, striking the SUV. The force of the impact caused the SUV to continue traveling westbound, cross all lanes heading east, and eventually crash into a fence surrounding the North Las Vegas Airport.

Police are currently investigating whether speed or impairment may have contributed to the crash. Cheyenne Avenue was temporarily shut down between Decatur Boulevard and Tonto Street as crews worked the scene and cleared debris.
