Joseph Holtzmann dies in fatal Cumberland County car crash

Fatal Cumberland County car crash death of Joseph Holtzmann – Obituary

Joseph Holtzmann, a 60-year-old man from Ohio, was identified as the victim who died in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 70 in Cumberland County.

The crash occurred around 1:03 p.m., according to Illinois State Police Trooper Jayme Bufford. In addition to Holtzmann’s death, another individual sustained injuries and was airlifted to a nearby regional medical center for treatment.

The interstate was shut down following the incident and did not reopen until approximately 11 p.m.

Cumberland County Coroner Jennifer Phipps confirmed Holtzmann’s identity and noted that an autopsy was conducted on May 27. Results from the toxicology analysis are pending and expected to take about a week.
