Fatal Long Beach car and Metro train collision death of Katherine Rodriguez – Obituary

Katherine Rodriguez, 21, a resident of Compton, tragically passed away following a late-night crash involving her vehicle and a Metro train in Long Beach, California.

The incident took place around 11:55 p.m. on Friday near the intersection of 12th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Rodriguez was driving a 2014 Infiniti Q50S southbound on Long Beach Boulevard at a high rate of speed without her headlights on.

Simultaneously, a 29-year-old man driving a 2019 Honda Accord was turning onto Long Beach Boulevard from Anaheim Street and entered the Infiniti’s path. To avoid colliding from behind, the Honda veered and struck a guardrail, while the Infiniti lost control and collided with the Metro train.

Emergency personnel transported Rodriguez to a hospital where she later died from her injuries. The Honda driver stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities.

Investigators are examining whether speed and potential impairment contributed to the crash involving Rodriguez. There were no reported injuries to anyone on the Metro train.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Long Beach Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

Families affected by such tragic collisions may be entitled to compensation, but claims involving government vehicles like Metro trains require navigating specific legal procedures and deadlines. Consulting with a specialized attorney can be essential for pursuing wrongful death or injury claims successfully.
