Lake County, Illinois Man Shawon Shamarion Williams Arrested in Horry County for Boat Party Shooting

HORRY COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA — Shawon Shamarion Williams, a 19-year-old resident of Lake County, Illinois, was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred during a boat party in the Little River area on Sunday night, May 25, 2025.

According to the Horry County Police Department, Williams was taken into custody in Illinois and is expected to face multiple counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The shooting happened aboard a docked private charter boat with approximately 124 people on board.

Authorities say the incident began with an altercation and left 10 individuals with gunshot wounds and one person with a non-gunfire-related injury.

Williams will be extradited to Horry County to face charges related to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say more individuals may be charged.
