Fatal San Antonio apartment homicide death of Margarita Placido – Obituary

Margarita Placido, aged 68, was identified as the woman who was killed early Tuesday morning at a Northwest Side apartment complex in San Antonio. Authorities say her death was caused by head trauma and has been officially classified as a homicide.

According to police, the incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. at an apartment located in the 8800 block of Cinnamon Creek, not far from the Medical Center area. San Antonio police reported that her son, 31-year-old James Garcia, made the 911 call, yelling for assistance. When officers arrived, Garcia admitted to killing Placido.

Officers discovered her body in the hallway of the residence, where she was found with visible physical injuries. Garcia was immediately taken into custody and later charged with murder. He is currently being held in the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.

Court records show Garcia has a pre-indictment hearing scheduled for August 2025.
