Marietta, Georgia Woman Rachel Ward Arrested in Cobb County for Elder Neglect Resulting in Death

MARIETTA, GEORGIA — Rachel Ward, a 62-year-old resident of Marietta, was arrested in Cobb County in connection with the death of a man she had been caring for.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, Ward was taken into custody on Wednesday at the home she shared with the victim on Stoneridge Drive in Marietta. Authorities say the incident involves the neglect of Earl Douglas, who was found deceased inside the home.

According to the arrest warrant, Douglas suffered from severe neglect, including infected bed sores and significant weight loss. The document states Ward failed to provide adequate shelter, left him in unsanitary conditions without air conditioning, and did not properly clean his living space or care for his hygiene.

Ward was transported to the Cobb County Jail and is currently facing charges of Neglect of an Elderly Person. She is being held without bond.
