Nashville, Tennessee Man Terrance Trice Arrested in Nashville for Fatal Church Parking Lot Stabbing

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — Terrance Trice, a 36-year-old resident of Nashville, was arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in a church parking lot earlier this week.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), Trice was observed by an officer in a physical altercation with 44-year-old James Cane Jr. in the parking lot of a church at 719 Gallatin Pike South just after midnight on Monday. Cane was critically injured in the stabbing and later died at a nearby hospital. Trice fled the scene following the incident.

Surveillance footage obtained by MNPD shows Trice following Cane on Gallatin Pike prior to the attack. While the motive for the stabbing remains under investigation, Trice has been charged with criminal homicide and is currently being held on a $160,000 bond. He is also facing a charge related to a violation of the sex offender registry.

Authorities noted that Trice has prior convictions for assault, domestic assault, and felony drug possession.
