Pico Rivera, California Man Cato Mendoza Fatally Shot; Suspect Sought in Los Angeles County

PICO RIVERA, CALIFORNIA — Cato Mendoza, a 40-year-old resident of Pico Rivera, was fatally shot on May 13, prompting a manhunt by authorities in Los Angeles County.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a call around 5 p.m. on the 9100 block of Rosehedge Drive, where they discovered Mendoza deceased from gunshot wounds. The suspect fled the scene in a 2023 silver Nissan Altima sedan, which was later captured on nearby surveillance footage.

It remains unclear how many individuals were in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The shooting is currently under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
