Raleigh, North Carolina Man Quashaun Freeman Arrested in Riegelwood for Murder

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA — Quashaun Freeman, a 28-year-old resident of Raleigh, was arrested in Riegelwood in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred earlier this week.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Freeman was taken into custody on Thursday at an apartment complex in Raleigh. Authorities say the incident took place on May 27, when deputies responded to Brown Town Road in Riegelwood and found 31-year-old Jonathan Baldwin of Clarkton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Baldwin was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center by Acme-Delco-Riegelwood Fire Rescue but later died from his injuries. Investigators say the shooting followed a verbal altercation between Freeman and Baldwin that escalated into gunfire.

Freeman was transported to a detention facility and is currently facing charges related to the murder. Deputies also recovered a gun and ammunition during his arrest. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
