San Antonio, Texas Man James Garcia Arrested in Bexar County for Allegedly Killing His Mother
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — James Garcia, a 31-year-old resident of San Antonio, was arrested in Bexar County in connection with the murder of his mother, Margarita Placido, at an apartment complex on the city’s Northwest Side.
According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), Garcia was taken into custody on Tuesday during a response to a 911 call in the 8800 block of Cinnamon Creek, near the Medical Center. Authorities say Garcia called emergency services around 2:35 a.m., stating that he had killed his mother.
Placido, 68, was found deceased in the hallway of the apartment with visible physical injuries. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide, citing trauma to the head as the cause.
Garcia was transported to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and is currently facing murder charges in connection with the incident. His bond is set at $250,000, and court records show a pre-indictment hearing scheduled for August 2025.
