William L. Rabe Jr. dies in fatal Jennings County car crash

Fatal Jennings County car crash death of William L. Rabe Jr. – Obituary

William L. Rabe Jr., 54, of Jennings County, Indiana, lost his life Thursday morning in a head-on collision just east of North Vernon.

 

According to the Indiana State Police based in Versailles, the initial investigation shows that Rabe was traveling west on U.S. 50 near Private Road 125 East when, for reasons still unknown, his vehicle veered across the centerline into oncoming traffic.

 

Rabe’s vehicle collided head-on with a car heading east, driven by 36-year-old Daniel L. Plumm of North Vernon. The crash occurred in the eastbound lane of U.S. 50.

 

Rabe was pronounced dead at the crash site.

 

Plumm sustained significant injuries and was taken to St. Vincent/Jennings Hospital in North Vernon. He was later transferred to St. Vincent Hospital on 86th Street in Indianapolis for additional care.

 

Authorities from the Indiana State Police and Jennings County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash. While toxicology results are still pending, there is currently no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

 

Responding agencies included the North Vernon Police Department, North Vernon Fire Department, Jennings County EMS, and the Jennings County Coroner’s Office.
