Fatal Murray, Utah car crash death of Caysee Rebolloso – Obituary

Caysee Rebolloso, 35, of Salt Lake City, died after crashing a stolen vehicle into two others while fleeing from police on Thursday night, according to Taylorsville authorities.

Officers first identified the stolen vehicle, originally reported missing in Layton, and attempted a traffic stop. Rebolloso sped off, but police did not engage in a pursuit. Instead, a Department of Public Safety helicopter monitored the vehicle from above.

Police deployed spike strips on 500 West in an effort to disable the vehicle. Despite the attempt, Rebolloso kept driving and ultimately collided with two vehicles at the intersection of 4800 South and 500 West in Murray.

She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries. A 67-year-old woman in one of the struck vehicles was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The teenage driver of the third vehicle was evaluated at a hospital by a family member for minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the multi-agency Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team. Since there was no direct police pursuit at the time of the incident, standard officer-involved critical incident procedures were not triggered.
