Authorities in Randolph County are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on Thursday, May 29, involving 47-year-old Chris Lee Borreson. According to officials, Borreson made a distress call reporting he had been shot at a residence on the 2900 block of Pitman Road in Maynard, Arkansas. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries while still on the line with dispatchers.

Following the incident, deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office apprehended 30-year-old Joshua Kane Smith in connection with Borreson’s death. Smith has since been booked into the Randolph County Detention Center and is facing a charge of first-degree murder.
