Fatal Payson, Utah car crash death of Christopher Suiter – Obituary
Fifty-year-old Christopher Suiter of Santaquin was killed Tuesday afternoon in a head-on crash on Interstate 15 in Payson, as confirmed by local authorities.
The Utah Highway Patrol reported that an SUV traveling northbound for unknown reasons veered across all lanes, broke through the cable barrier in the median, and entered the southbound traffic lanes of I-15.
The SUV collided head-on with a Jeep, which was being driven by Christopher Suiter. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, 19-year-old Riley Durst from Draper, also died in the crash.
Two other cars later struck debris from the initial crash, but no serious injuries were reported from those secondary collisions.
The fatal crash led to a complete closure of all southbound lanes on I-15 near the site. Traffic was rerouted at exit 253, and the lanes were reopened later that night around 10 p.m.
