Douglas Johnson dies in fatal Solon, Iowa water-related incident

Fatal Solon, Iowa water emergency death of Douglas Johnson – Obituary

Douglas Johnson, 85, of Solon, Iowa, lost his life on Thursday during a water-related emergency at his home. The incident occurred around 6:51 p.m. when deputies were called to a property on Deborah Drive NE in rural Johnson County.

 

Authorities found Johnson unresponsive in a small pond behind his residence. Emergency crews attempted resuscitation and transported him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

 

An investigation revealed that Johnson had gone outside around 3 p.m. to trim weeds. When his wife noticed he had not returned, she contacted a neighbor for help. That neighbor discovered Johnson face down in the pond and immediately called 911.

 

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the Linn County Medical Examiner, is continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the death. However, no foul play is suspected.
