Jasmine Hernandez Ascencio, 31, was found dead from gunshot wounds in a suspected murder-suicide at an apartment complex in Oildale on Monday. The incident took place at the Belcourt Apartments on the 2600 block of Park Meadows Drive. Authorities confirmed she died at the scene from her injuries.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office reported that Joshua Anthony Reveles, 25, was also found dead at the location with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators believe the case to be a murder-suicide. According to officials, the exact time of the incident is unclear, but both bodies were discovered on Monday.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office stated that Reveles and Ascencio were in a romantic relationship and had been living together at the apartment.
The tragic deaths remain under investigation as the community grapples with the devastating event.
